High school rubgy season will kick off with a Feb. 28 tournament at Lindenwood

Winter is still here but it soon will be time to kick off the spring high school rugby campaign. West County high school rugby is gearing up for the spring 2015 season that begins in a big way with a tournament scheduled for Feb. 28 at Lindenwood. “We are starting workouts a bit earlier this year in preparation for the first annual Lindenwood University sponsored high school tournament,” said Parkway United Rugby coach John Watson. “The tournament will feature teams from throughout St Louis, and across the Midwest. All-State volleyball teams

Lafayette won its fourth consecutive state championship in Class 4 last fall and several Lancers earned berths on the all-state team. he Eureka Wildcats reached the Class 4 Final Four for the third year in a row and coach Mark Mosley was honored by the Suburban West Conference as its coach of the year. Several athletes also were recognized. The Suburban West honored Lafayette’s Maddy Siefert as one of its pitchers of the year. Lafayette graduate Johnson honored by American Volleyball Coaches Association

Lafayette graduate and Missouri State freshman outside hitter Lily Johnson was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday (Dec. 17) with a spot on the All-American Honorable Mention squad, becoming the sixth player and first freshman to reach All-America status in Missouri State's storied volleyball history.

Lafayette won its fourth consecutive Class 4 high school girls volleyball state championship and dominated the Suburban West Conference first team all-conference team. The Lancers’ Tori Roe was named the Player of the Year Parkway West picked up two honors in teh Suburban Central Conference’s National Division. Boys cross country all-conference teams

Lafayette won Class 4 state cross country championship for the first time this fall. The Lancers picked up their first state team title with a team score of 41 points. The Lancers dominated the Suburban West all-conference team. Westminster finished third in Class 3. Andrew Murray, of Westminster, was named the Metro League’s Runner of the Year. Murray helped the Wildcats tie for the best finish in school history. The junior finished ninth at state with a time of 16 minutes, 34.57 seconds. The all-conference teams have been announced. All conference girls cross country teams

In high school girls cross country, it was another good season, led by Eureka’s Hannah Long. Long captured her third consecutive Class 4 girls state cross country title in the state meet held in Jefferson City. Long recorded her fastest time ever on the state course with a tiem of 17 minutes, 38.29 seconds. She followed that accomplishment by signing her letter to attend Stanford, which is located in Palo Alto, Calif.
