Kennedy boys basketball team opens season with two tournaments

The Kennedy Celts boys basketball team opened with two tournaments to start the season and emerged with a winning record. The Celts hosted the Kennedy Round Robin and then played in the Valley Park Invitational. Kennedy went 4-2 and returns to action Friday with a 7:30 p.m. game at Valley Park.

Several local rugby players competed for Missouri in the recent All-Star Select Rugby Tour in Chicago. The Missouri All Stars, coached by John Watson, defeated the Illinois Select Side 24-17. The Illinois Select Side was highly favored going into the contest.

Sports Briefs: MICDS Rams have successful run in state tournament

The MICDS Rams girls cross country team had another successful run in the Class 3 state tournament. The Rams finished fourth for the second consecutive year at the Oak Hills Golf Center in Jefferson City. MICDS finished with 134 points. Festus won state with 72 points. Veteran coach Jim Lohr was happy with the Rams.
