Fresh off district championship, Whitfield looks to make noise at state wrestling tournament

Whitfield freshman Mike McAteer will put his undefeated record on the line and his Warrior teammates will be competing as well in the three-day state wrestling championships. The annual event begins at 10 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 19) at the Mizzou Arena on the University of Missouri campus. The championship finals for all classes begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. At the state championships, trophies will be awarded to the top four teams in each of the four classes. Medals will be awarded to the six place finishers in each weight class. District wrestling results

Whitfield won the Class 1 District 1 wrestling meet to return as a team to the upcoming state tournament. The top two teams and the top four individual finishers from each weight class in each Missouri district qualified for the 2015 state meet. The three-day tournament begins Thursday (Feb. 19) at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
