High school girls basketball

Parkway North captured the season-opening Gerald Linneman Tip-Off Classic for the third consecutive year. The Vikings cruised past district rivals Parkway Central, Parkway West and Parkway South. Parkway North coach Brett Katz said, “Honestly, I felt going into the Tip-Off that we had the most experienced team and talent going in. Our goal for the Tip-Off is to see where we are up against teams wearing a different jersey. “The girls are excited to win, but they have much larger goals this year.”

All conference high school girls golf teams

Parkway Central’s Elizabeth Leath finished second in the Class 2 state girls golf tournament and she earned Suburban XII South Division Player of the Year honors for her accomplishments in her senior season. Leath shot a 76 to end one shot benind state champion Mariah Peters, of Blue Springs. The all-conference teams have been announced. All conference girls high schoool volleyball teams

Lafayette won its fourth consecutive Class 4 high school girls volleyball state championship and dominated the Suburban West Conference first team all-conference team. The Lancers’ Tori Roe was named the Player of the Year Parkway West picked up two honors in teh Suburban Central Conference’s National Division. Boys cross country all-conference teams

Lafayette won Class 4 state cross country championship for the first time this fall. The Lancers picked up their first state team title with a team score of 41 points. The Lancers dominated the Suburban West all-conference team. Westminster finished third in Class 3. Andrew Murray, of Westminster, was named the Metro League’s Runner of the Year. Murray helped the Wildcats tie for the best finish in school history. The junior finished ninth at state with a time of 16 minutes, 34.57 seconds. The all-conference teams have been announced. All conference girls cross country teams

In high school girls cross country, it was another good season, led by Eureka’s Hannah Long. Long captured her third consecutive Class 4 girls state cross country title in the state meet held in Jefferson City. Long recorded her fastest time ever on the state course with a tiem of 17 minutes, 38.29 seconds. She followed that accomplishment by signing her letter to attend Stanford, which is located in Palo Alto, Calif.
