Glennon ready for play in her third U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur

Kathy Glennon will be making her third appearance in the the United States Golf Assocation’s U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur. Glennon, 53, of Wildwood, will compete in the 58th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur that begins Saturday. The championship will be held at Cedar Rapids Country Club, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Kayla Eckelkamp, Ryan Eckelkamp qualify for heir respective U.S. Mid-Amateur Championships

It was a special day for Kayla and Ryan Eckelkamp at WingHaven Country Club as both advanced to their respective U.S. Mid-Amateur Championships in qualifying. Kayla Eckelkamp has qualified for the 2019 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur. It will be played at Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff, Arizona. It will be held Sept. 14-19. By the way, there is no relation between the two. Kayla, a Washington native and Maryville University graduate, was attempting to qualifying for the USGA event. Area young golfers compete well at Optimist International Junior Golf Championship

Several local young golfers did well at the recent Optimist International Junior Golf Championship. The event was played on the following courses at Doral Resort and Spa. They were the Blue Monster Course (6,698 yards) and the Golden Palm (6,741). All three boys in the 14-15 age group made the cut. The top 70 player plus ties will advance to the final round on the Blue Course. Maxwell Sigman, of Dardenne Prarie, finished 40th overall at 22 over par. He shot rounds of 80-79-78 for a 237. Chaminade’s Guyot wins Gateway PGA Junior Tour Championship

Chaminade junior Jack Guyot learned something important in the Gateway PGA Junior Tour Championship. Guyot captured the two-tournament at WingHaven Country Club. He finished with an even 144 on rounds of 66 and 78 to claim boys’ Tour Division and overall titles. Jack Guyot holds the trophy for winning the Gateway PGA Junior Tour Championship that was played at WingHaven Country Club. Guyot is a junior at Chaminade. Nienhaus ready for St. Joseph’s Academy golf season after ending summer with tourney title

Drew Nienhaus is ready for the high school girls golf season. The St. Joseph’s Academy junior wants to help the Angels win the state championship again. St. Joseph’s has won the Class 2 title in each of the last two seasons. Drew Nienhaus holds the trophy for winning the Gateway PGA Junior Tour Championship at WingHaven Country Coub. Marquette’s Chris Kenny will be honored as the Jimmy Dunn High School Coach of the Year by the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame.
