2019-20 high school girls swimming and diving preview capsules

The Marquette Mustangs are looking to jump in the pool for the girls swimming and diving season. Marquette won the Class 2 state championship last winter with 278 points. Rock Bridge was distant second at 224.5. It was the Marquette program’s third title. The other two came in 1999 and 2000. Coach Joe Schoedel’s team went undefeated in duals and won three meets before claiming the state title. He has eight state qualifiers back. CBC’s Wehrmann breaks his school record in race at Class 2 state swim meet

CBC sophomore Max Wehrmann broke his own school record at the recent Class 2 state swimming and diving meet. Wehrmann had a second-place showing in the 200 free with a time of 1 minute, 42.32 seconds. Last fall at the state, Wehrmann set the school record in 200 freestyle with his time of 1:45.59, good for an 11th-place finish. Chaminade does well at Class 1 state swim meet, earns trophy

The Chaminade swimming and diving team has added some hardware for the school’s trophy case. The Red Devils finished fourth and set two school records in the recent Class 1 state swimming and diving meet at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters. Parkway Central boys head into state swim meet after winning conference championship

The Parkway Central Colts will jump into the Missouri State High School Activities Association Boys Swimming & Diving Championships with some momentum. The Colts won the Suburban Conference Red Pool meet that was held at Pattonville. Parkway Central won with 462 points. Parkway West was just behind with 460 points. The Missouri State High School Activities Association Boys Swimming & Diving Championships begin Thursday and run through Saturday. Class 1 events will be held Thursday and Friday morning. CBC’s Burke wins diving championship at COMO Invitational

CBC junior David Burke won the COMO Invitational diving championship. Burke, who lives in Chesterfield, won diving title by scoring 464.70 points. Sebastian Lawrence, of St. Louis University High, was second with a score of 455.10.
