High school boys state swimming and diving qualifiers

The Class 2 state swimming and diving meet will be held Thursday (Nov. 8) and Friday morning. The Class 1 meet will be held Friday afternoon and Saturday. The state meet will be at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters. Parkway West qualifies 16 swimmers and divers for the Class 1 state boys swim meet

The Parkway West Longhorns head into the Class 1 boys state swimming and diving meet with momentum. The Longhorns enter state after winning the Suburban Conference Red Pool championship. Tryouts scheduled for Parkway Swim Club 2018-19 season

Parkway Swim Club tryouts are required for all new Parkway members. Parkway swim school swimmers that have graduated Level 6, or Parkway prep swimmers wishing to join the competitive groups must try out. All returning competitive team swimmers from the past 6 months do not need to try out for the new season. Swimmers will be expected to complete at least one “legal” length of each stroke. Here’s an opportunity for local swimmers to take part in clinics  led by Olympic gold medalist Claire Donahue. Fitter & Faster announces that McKendree University swimming and diving has partnered with its Swim Tour to offer three sessions of high performance swim clinics led by Donahue and Paralympian Tucker Dupree. From slow lane to scholarship, Marquette’s Basler swims her way to Drury University

It’s not how your start but how you finish. Just ask Marquette’s Lexi Basler. Basler signed to swim in college at Drury University. However, when she began swimming for the Mustangs, there was little thought of getting an athletic scholarship. “Lexi’s older sister Karli also swam for me, and was somewhat of a phenomenon in the world of swimming,” Marquette coach Joe Schoedel said. “She went from my slowest lane her freshman year, and barely making the team, to scoring at state by her junior year. Parkway West, De Smet plan on challenging SLUH in high school boys district water polo tournament

Sure St. Louis University High is prohibitive favorite to win another district high school boys water polo tournament title but Parkway West and De Smet plan to compete for the title, too. Parkway West is the most recent tournament winner other than SLUH. Parkway West coach Charlie Cutelli recalls that victory. “We won in 2014 also and we are the last team other then SLUH to do that,” Cutelli said. The Longhorns defeated SLUH 13-12 in 2014. 20th annual De Smet Jesuit Invitational boasts strong field of top local and out of state water polo teams

The 20th annual De Smet Jesuit Invitational will provide top-notch competition for water polo fans. The action begins Thursday afternoon at Lindbergh High. Matches on Friday and Saturday will be played at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters. New teams to the tournament this year include Parkway Central, Strake Jesuit High of Houston, Texas; and Sycamore High of Cincinnati, Ohio.
