Marquette makes it two in a row by winning girls Class 2 state swimming championship

Winning state once is nice but to do it twice is even better. Just ask the Marquette Mustangs girls swimming and diving team. The Mustangs captured the Class 2 state title at the recent 45th annual Missouri Girls Swimming and Diving Championships at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. Marquette finished with 242 points to top second-place Kirkwood’s 237. Eureka came in third with 220 points. The three teams are in the Suburban Conference Yellow Pool. Parkway West girls swim and dive to record 13th state championship

For Parkway West coach Coleen Sumner’s swimming and diving Longhorns, it’s all about the team. Parkway West’s girls captured the Class 1 team championship at the recent 45th annual Missouri Swimming and Diving State Championships at St. Peters Rec-Plex. The Parkway West girls swim team won the Class 1 state championship. It’s the 13th title for the program. That’s a state record. The Longhorns finished first with 171 points. The Marquette girls are the reigning Class 2 state champions and they’re ready to try and win it again this weekend at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters. Coach Joe Schoedel said his Mustangs enjoyed competing this season as the defending state champions. Local swimmers, divers qualify for Missouri state swim meet

The 2020 Girls Swimming & Diving Championship begins it’s three-day run Thursday at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters. The meet consists of six sessions: Swimming Prelims, Diving, and Swimming Finals, for both Class 1 and Class 2. All guests age 6 and older require ticket. Tickets are $8 per session and will be available on site. The lineup for the meet is Class 1 swimmers and diving competing all day Thursday and Friday morning. Marquette sets two school records in winning sixth consecutive conference swim meet

The Marquette Mustangs maintained their dominance at the Suburban Conference Yellow Pool girls swim meet. The Mustangs, who are the reigning Class 2 state champions, recorded 441 points in the meet at Kirkwood. That earned Marquette its sixth consecutive conference championship. Rockwood Swim Club ready to hold annual Swim A Thon

The annual Rockwood Swim Club Swim A Thon will be held at Crestview Middle School. Irene Kinsey, the Swim a Thon coordinator for Rockwood Swim Club, said the event is set for Feb. 22. Members of the Rockwood Swim Club take part in last year’s Swim A Thon. “We will swim laps that day to raise money,” Kinsey said. “However, we will continue to raise funds through April 19.” The Swim-a-Thon is a USA Swimming Foundation-approved fundraiser used by swim teams all over the United States to raise money for their respective club, Kinsey said.
