Westminster Christian Academy wrestlers win Metro League Tournament, prepare for St. Charles West Tournament

The Westminster Christian Academy wrestling Wildcats head into Saturday’s St. Charles West Tournament fresh off winning the Metro League Tournament. The Wildcats hosted the league meet. Westminster finished first with 143 points. Priory’s second-place total was 126. The Westminster Christian Academy Wildcats won the recent Metro League Tournament. The Lafayette Lancers are looking forward to competing in the upcoming Granite City “Red Schmidt” Invitational. The Lafayette Lancers won the Francis Howell North Invitational to start its tournament competition. Next up for the grappling Lancers will be the tough holiday meet Dec. 27-28 at Granite City. Reigning state wrestling champions Whitfield and CBC will be attempting to win another title this season. The CBC Cadets won the 2019 Class 4 state wrestling tournament. It was CBC’s second consecutive crown. CBC had four individual state champions last season and two return this year. Senior Joshua Saunders is three-for-three at the state meet. Saunders earned his third championship last winter with a 10-3 decision over Staley’s Aidan Johnson at 152 pounds. The state title gave him a 40-2 season. Saunders went 34-3 as a sophomore.
