Event Details

Missouri Botanical Garden Display is on now through November 10 at the St. Louis Lambert International Airport Gallery near the C Concourse exit in Terminal 1, 10701 Lambert International Blvd in St. Louis.
An exhibit from the Missouri Botanical Garden is now on display at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
Plants and People: The Collections of the Missouri Botanical Garden features artifacts from around the world that tell the story of the interchange between plants and plant. The objects also tell the story of the Missouri Botanical Garden, one of the world’s leading centers for botanical exploration, plant science and conservation.
The display heavily features the biocultural collections from the William L. Brown Center, a division of the Missouri Botanical Garden. The Center is dedicated to the study of useful plants, understanding the relationships between humans, plants, and their environment, the conservation of plant species, and the preservation of traditional knowledge for the benefit of future generations. Items range from plant-based medicine to tools, household items, textiles, baskets, weapons, clothing, and decorative objects.
The collection features items from China, Peru, Madagascar, Ecuador, and locations throughout North America. The exhibit also features items and stories from the Garden’s other sites in the St. Louis area, Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House and Shaw Nature Reserve. These sites each tell unique and important stories of the Garden’s work in research, conservation, and environmental stewardship.
Plants and People is on display through November 10 in the St. Louis Lambert International Airport Gallery, near the C Concourse exit in Terminal 1. It is part of the St. Louis Lambert International Airport Art & Culture Program’s temporary exhibitions program. The program is supported by the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis.
The Missouri Botanical Garden was chosen to exhibit in the St. Louis Lambert International Airport Art & Culture Program through the Airport’s seven-member Airport Art Advisory Committee. Current members are Lisa Cakmak, Associate Curator of Ancient Art at Saint Louis Art Museum; Ellen Gale, Executive Director Clayton Chamber of Commerce; Shelley Hagen; Leslie Markle, Curator of Public Art, Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum; Kiku Obata, Founding Principal of Kiku Obata & Co.; Roseann Weiss, consultant with ART+; and design artist and illustrator Carlos Zamora.
