Light-hitting CBC bounces Hazelwood West

The CBC baseball team didn’t manage to do much offensively against Hazelwood West in its Class 5 sectional game Tuesday. But the Cadets did make the most of what they got. Hazelwood West yielded just two hits, but CBC came away with a 3-1 victory at Missouri Baptist University. The victory moves CBC into a Class 5 quarterfinal clash against Francis Howell Central on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Cadet Park. Eureka breaks out big bats to take out SLUH

Putting up crooked numbers early in the game has not been standard procedure for the Eureka baseball team this spring. On Tuesday, the Wildcats bucked that trend. Eureka scored five times in the first two innings and rolled to a 7-4 victory over St. Louis University High in a Class 5 sectional at Eureka. The Wildcats (23-4) will venture to Lindbergh or Jackson on Thursday afternoon for a state quarterfinal match up. Lafayette wraps up successful water polo season

The Lafayette Lancers ended up fourth in the Missouri Water Polo Association’s state water polo tournament. The Lancers (25-4-2) dropped a 7-6 verdict in overtime to the MICDS Rams. “I am extremely proud of the team for reaching the Final Four,” Lafayette coach Jamie Waeckerle said. “It is only the second time in school history that we have reached that far.” The Lancers finished third in 2005. “So this year was our second best finish in the state tournament,” Waeckerle said. “However, our 25 wins is the most we have ever had in a season. Eureka wins girls district soccer championship, meets unbeaten St. Joseph’s in sectional

Fresh off a district soccer championship, the Eureka Wildcats face a tough challenge in the Class 4 sectional round. Eureka (19-3-2) will play defending state champions St. Joseph’s Academy at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday (May 26) at St. Joseph’s. Old Warson Cup seeds and starting times for first round

A select field of top amateurs will compete in the two-day Old Warson Cup that tees off Saturday (May 30). For the first time in several years, a new No. 1 seed will lead off the tournament.
