Parkway softball coaches looking forward to seeing teams play in Parkway Invitational

Parkway South’s Marvin Medcalf and Parkway Central’s Melissa Sommerfeld will make their coaching debuts in the 27th annual Parkway Girls Invitational. The event begins Monday (Aug. 24) at the Manchester Athletic Association and Ballwin Athletic Association complexes. There is no defending champion for the 16-team event. Rain washed out last year’s edition. CBC dismantles Columbia Hickman in season opener

Defending Class 6 champion CBC looked anything but in championship form on its first drive and after Columbia Hickman jumped to an early touchdown lead, fans at Missouri’s Faurot Field were left scratching their heads a bit. That lead lasted for less than a minute, and with the Cadets clearly awake after that drive, top-ranked CBC exploded for 66 unanswered points en route to a 66-7 thumping of the Kewpies Saturday in the “Mayhem at Zou” event on the University of Missouri campus. Haskins runs rampant as Eureka hammers Lafayette

    The football coach is new at Eureka and the Wildcats football team has a new field but the performance was definitely old school Eureka football. Behind a physical, senior-heavy offensive line and the relentless running of Hassan Haskins, the Wildcats rolled past rival Lafayette for a 35-13 win on the school’s newly installed artificial turf field. CBC will open defense of state championship at Faurot Field against Columbia Hickman

CBC will kick off its defense of its state championship on the home field of the Missouri Tigers. The “Mayhem at the Zou” will be Saturday (Aug. 22). Class 6 champion CBC will play Hickman at 3 p.m. The Cadets were undefeated last year at 14-0, winning the state title with a 31-24 win over Rockhurst. The Kewpies finished 1-9.
