Marquette, Lafayette, Parkway South ready to compete in Suburban West Conference girls swim meet

Picking the Lafayette Lancers to win the Suburban West Conference girls swim meet is usually a safe bet but putting some money on Marquette might be smart this time. The Lancers have won the conference swim meet for 29 of the last 30 years. The lone blemish in that time came when Parkway South won the conference three years ago before the Lancers reclaimed the title like it was its birthright. Fire district completes bond sale

The West County EMS and Fire Protection District has sold $1.83 million in bonds to pay for capital equipment purchases this year and to restructure the remaining portion of bonds sold in 2003.

John Burroughs, Francis Howell, Wentzville Holt, Fort Zumwalt East reach Founders Cup hockey semifinals

The semifinals are set in the Mid-States Club Hockey Association’s Founders Cup. No. 5- seed John Burroughs (7-8-5) meets top-seeded Francis Howell (6-13-3) in a best of two game series beginning at 9 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 10) at Queeny Park. Game 2 is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Hardee’s Ice-Plex. Game 2 of the series between Wentzville Holt (5-16-2) and Fort Zumwalt East (7-13-2) will be at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Lindenwood.
