Parkway Central graduate Scherzer offered lucrative baseball contract

Very soon, Parkway Central graduate Max Scherzer is going to be one of the top paid pitchers ever in major league baseball. Reports from various scouces report the 30-year-old Scherzer has agreed to a seven-year contract with the Washington Nationals that is worth $210 million. It has been reported Scherzer will receive $15 million a year for 14 years as that half of the total will be deferred.  The deal reportedly includes a $50 million signing bonus. Lafayette’s back court combo of Cameron Scales and Brian Boyd has been an headache for opponents this winter. On Friday night, Marquette got to see that up close and in person. Defending champion Marquette ready for tough girls swimming field in Parkway South Inviational

Marquette coach Joe Schoedel said his Mustangs would like to repeat as champions of the 20th annual Parkway South Invitational. The girls swim meet features 10 teams, including some of the best in the state. The two-day swimming and diving meet begins Friday (Jan. 16) at 4:30 p.m. and concludes Saturday.
