Council considers new life for closed swim club

The closed Country Surf Swim and Tennis Club at 2851 Barrett Station Road, just southwest of the intersection of Dougherty Ferry Road and Barrett Station, could be reopened as a swim and sand volleyball league facility under a proposal green-lighted by the St. Louis County Planning Commission and headed to the St. Louis County Council for approval.

County considers bridge replacement project

The Vance Road bridge over Fishpot Creek just west of Hwy. 141 would be replaced under a project being considered by the St. Louis County Council, but drivers would probably not see a new bridge there for another three years.

West County native Langley leads The Greenbrier Classic after first round

Manchester native Scott Langley shot an 8-under 62 to take the first-round lead of The Greenbrier Classic. The PGA event, which is being played in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., began Thursday (July 2). Langley, a 26-year-old Parkway South and University of Illinois graduate, has not had a top 10 finish this season. Thomas ready to defend his Missouri Junior Amateur boys championship

What is better than one state golf championship? Why two, of course, and that is what Frankie Thomas will be trying to accomplish. Thomas, who will be a senior this fall at Marquette, will be back to defend his state championship Monday (July 6) when the Missouri Golf Association will hold its 2015 Missouri Junior Amateur Championship over two days. “I’m very excited to be playing the Junior Amateur Championship again,” Thomas said.
