New athletic directors named

It’s a new school year and two West County schools have new athletic directors. John Theobald replaced Mike Roth at Parkway Central and Pat Burns is taking over at Parkway South. Theobald had been the boys and girls soccer coach for the Colts. Graduates from a wide variety of fields are represented in the Parkway Alumni Association’s Hall of Fame Class of 2014. The 22 inductees will be honored Nov. 15 at a gala event, where teachers, administrators, friends, classmates and family members will gather to celebrate with them. The Hall of Fame recognizes Parkway graduates who have brought honor to the district by distinguishing themselves through career achievements and outstanding community service. The St. Joseph’s Manchester Crusaders are the eighth-grade CYC City/County Champions. All the boys are 14 years old. Two schools named ‘National School of Character’ named

The Character Education Partnership (CEP) has named both Blevins Elementary and McKelvey Elementary as a 2014 National School of Character. The schools will hold this designation for five years and will be showcased in an annual publication and on the CEP website. The National School of Character program provides an opportunity to go through a rigorous process of feedback and coaching, as well as recognition for growth and excellence in the area of character development through CEP’s 11 Principles of Effective Character Education framework.
